The Wellness Studio at Fora Central Street is where French-born yoga teacher Hortense lays down her mats each week, and we’re here to tell you how good her classes are.
Hortense takes yoga seriously, although she will throw in a little humour to relax you into your downward dogs. As a committed full-time teacher, she is top-of-her-game, with a client list as impressive as her postures, and a unique philosophy: “I don’t believe in monogamy in yoga,” she explains about her “mix ‘n’ match” blend of various disciplines. Since deciding to become a yogi master on the beaches of Goa 20 years ago, Hortense has built up a dynamic, almost acrobatic, style that is rejuvenating, never dull, pleasantly fast-paced, yet not exhaustingly so. Thanks to the small-sized classes at Fora, Hortense is able to give individual attention and will adjust her combined learnings of Ashtanga, Iyengar and Hatha to suit all ages, levels and body types.
Beginner, intermediate or advanced – strength-building is key for all. You will leave the class feeling energised, having connected with your inner chakras and with a strengthened inner core.
The new early morning sessions at Fora are a hit, but please note that spaces are limited.
Classes are held 8.10am-8.50am on Fridays in June, thereafter on Tuesday mornings, in the Wellness Studio; £4. Residents may also book small group/company team lessons, or even 1:1’s – just ask the Concierge team.
A free half-hour introduction to a personal trainer is on offer to all Residents. Daniel is Fora’s enthusiastic, ex-footballer, trainer-in-residence who is biting at the bit to put everyone through their paces in the Wellness Studio.
During an initial 30-minute consultation, he will look at your nutrition and exercise history, take body measurements and suggest a short training programme that suits your fitness level, including boxing drills if requested. Following on from this, you could download his app, register and pay a monthly fee and receive new training programme schedules monthly.
Or, if you are the type of person who benefits from having a trainer by your side, book him for a 1:1 or small group session (from 8am most mornings), payable by the minute. Costs for individuals are £30 for half an hour, with discounts for multiple bookings and packages. Contact: [email protected]
A glowing mani-pedi will relieve, or at least brighten up, any work-based panic. Every other Friday, we welcome the highly-regarded mobile nail salon, LeSalon, on a mission to pamper Fora residents (men too) with a buff and polish.
LeSalon’s range of treatments offer high-quality, top-range convenience at competitive prices: a 10-minute express manicure costs £10 and a full Shellac mani-padi £55 (see the link for more prices). Longer treatments include a de-stressing exfoliation massage. Hands or feet are then soaked, scrubbed, massaged and the cuticles nourished and shaped.
Choose a nail polish to suit your weekend plans, whether that’s a classic polish or shellac gel, both will be long-lasting and on-trend. And in two weeks time, you can have them redone.

Physio Massage and Treatment
On Tuesday afternoons, a first-class physio team from AB Physics, central London, offers Residents massage and physio treatments.
A course in both will:
- Relieve tension, pain and stiffness
- Promote relaxation
- Aid recovery from injury and sporting activities
- Support long-term management of known soft-tissue issues
- Help to prevent injury recurrence
Massage – lie down on a long massage table, oil is applied, and for 17-minutes or more you can enjoy an expert pummelling of neck and shoulders, to a background of relaxing music.
Physio treatment – AB Physics will locate the trigger points that are causing pain, and release tension and improve blood flow with gentle exercises. This helps to send food supply around the body, which fastens healing. You will take away exercises to do on your commute or sat at your desk.

If you prefer to set your own workout pace, the Wellness Studio’s elliptical trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and free weights are available to Residents free-of-charge, whenever there are no classes or booked sessions taking place.
