Fora’s guide to King’s Cross

Fuel your success while surrounded by the hustle and bustle of some of the capital’s most unique public spaces, shops, restaurants and museums.

Shape your day in King’s Cross

Welcome to one of London’s most coveted and cutting-edge neighbourhoods. Home to global tech giants, it’s an innovation hub conveniently connected thanks to national and international transport links at King’s Cross St Pancras station and the ideal place to bring your business to life. Surrounded by shopping and dining hotspot Coal Drops Yard, top museums and an attractive stretch of the Regent’s Canal, you’ll find everything you need to enhance your day.

9am: Where to start

There are plenty of popular cafés in the area to grab a caffeine fix or a delicious breakfast on the way to your workspace. Try Wildcard in Granary Square, where you can discover a new favourite from a tasting flight of its signature blends, or Redemption Roasters, which trains young offenders and is a great place to pick up coffee while making a positive social impact. Or reimagine your morning with an Italian-style start to the day at nearby Lina Stores. There’s everything from fruit salad to pancetta-stuffed sandwiches made with freshly baked focaccia. While you’re there, why not pick up some panini or pastries from the neighbouring delicatessen for lunch?

12pm: Out to lunch

Behind King’s Cross St Pancras, Coal Drops Yard is a stunning public space with lots of choices for a quick bite and home to our latest workspace The Jellicoe (opening soon). Happy Face serves speedy pizzas in stylish surroundings while Sons + Daughters’ takeaway van and eat-in shop are the place to go for inventive sandwiches. If you’re looking for some retail therapy, head to Kitchen Provisions – a treasure trove of Japanese knives and culinary gadgets – and Blackhorse Lane Ateliers for bespoke jeans.

Love street food? Treat your taste buds at Bloomsbury Farmers’ Market in Torrington Square. Rain or shine, it takes place every Thursday and is home to stalls where local, sustainably sourced ingredients are the focus – prepare to sample everything from dosas to doughnuts.

And there are many other ways to fill your lunch break – clear your head with a walk along Regent’s Canal or soak up the tranquillity of Russell Square, which is a short stroll from Euston station. Meanwhile, there's plenty of inspiration to be found amid the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions at the British Library, British Museum, Wellcome Collection and Queer Britain.

3pm: Afternoon agenda

There’s no shortage of venues for a mid-afternoon client catch-up – whether it’s strategising in the grand European-style café area of German Gymnasium or raising a glass to a successful week at actor Idris Elba’s smart wine bar Porte Noir.

Entertaining out-of-town clients? Meet them from their train and indulge in oysters and a bottle of something sparkling at St Pancras by Searcy's – this Art Deco-inspired destination is home to Europe’s longest champagne bar.

However, you don’t even need to leave your workspace to impress clients when you arrange an alfresco meeting in one of the neighbourhood’s outdoor areas – from the breathtaking roof terrace of York House to views of Pancras Square from the Gridiron Building – or make the most of our welcoming event spaces.

6pm: End of day

Close your laptop and discover more opportunities to make the most of this non-stop neighbourhood. For a grab-and-go dinner, head to cult Malaysian eatery Roti King near Euston station – you might have to queue, but the reward is beef rendang and nasi lemak.

Team drinks? Order craft beers and ciders at The Euston Tap, set in a Victorian gatehouse, or head to one of the many pubs on Pentonville Road. Meanwhile, opposite King's Cross station, several chic spaces in The Standard – including The Library Lounge – make it an inviting place to end your day.

Alternatively, join fellow music lovers at Spiritland – this café, bar and radio venue plays vinyl through high-spec speakers and hosts an eclectic mix of evening events. And during summer, join the crowds on Granary Square’s giant steps overlooking Regent’s Canal for outdoor music, cinema and sports screenings.
