We are proud to introduce Montacute Yards as a brand-new destination for Shoreditch Design Triangle 2025. Home to Legado, Singburi, and Flying Horse Coffee, Montacute Yards will bring together design, food and culture under one roof – or more accurately, a railway arch.
A key highlight is A Seat at the Table, a mobile exhibition by design collective, Design Everything. Installed in the back of a Luton van, the project spotlights 36 seats by emerging UK designers. More than an exhibition, the seats will be used to host talks, roundtable debates and workshops, creating opportunities for conversation and community. On Wednesday 17 September, Montacute Yards will stage Sitting Comfortably?, a panel discussion on the business of design, chaired by Duncan Riches, featuring Alexandra Gerber and Gareth Neal, followed by an all-day open exhibition on Thursday 18 September.
Design Everything was founded to provide a platform where emerging designers can showcase their work with freedom and visibility. Working across the pillars of platform, people and progress, the collective champions new talent while addressing the challenges young designers face in establishing their practice.
Panellist Alexandra Gerber will also exhibit Standard Medium, her collection of furniture made from ceramic extrusions. Known for exploring functionality and materiality, she presents the second phase of this research at Fora Montacute Yards: tables in varying formats that combine ceramic with other materials, emphasising surfaces and colour.
Complementing the design programme, on Friday 19 September, Montacute Yards transforms into Pochana 185, a one-night-only Thai food festival. Singburi – a permanent resident of Fora Montacute Yards - takes over the space, joined by London’s Thai dining stars Kin + Deum, som saa and Smoking Goat. One blackboard menu, countless regional flavours – all served in the communal spirit of Thai cooking. In keeping with the community ethos, monies raised from Pochana 185 will be donated to Magic Breakfast, helping to fight child hunger across the UK. Find out more at: foraspace.com/thai-food-festival
Also exhibiting at Pochana 185, acclaimed designers the Wilson Brothers will present a new micro installation: the Mobile Music Kiosk. Via this playful, transportable structure the Wilsons will play music on 7” vinyl from 5-10pm, across a wide range of genres offering an eclectic and engaging sonic experience.
With more activations still to be revealed, Fora Montacute Yards is set to be a key destination for Shoreditch Design Triangle 2025.
