This month, we're discussing Entitlement by Rumaan Alam.

Books are having a renaissance. Not the reading of them – that never stopped – but the talking about them. Because stories are a great way to talk about what matters.

Hosted by award-winning novelist Pony Louder, we gather to chat about a book that’s made us laugh, think, and left us desperate to keep discussing it.

Recent reads include Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, and Patmeena Sabit’s Good People.

This month
For June, we’re reading Entitlement by Rumaan Alam.

In Entitlement, Brooke, a 33-year-old Black woman, works for old white billionaire Asher Jaffee. Each recognises in the other something they want. When Asher tells Brooke she should demand more from the world, she decides to take him at his word. How far will each of them go to get what they want?

This is the follow-up to Alam’s global smash (and subsequent Netflix hit) Leave the World Behind.

Money, power, and morality. Alam is needle-sharp on all three. Should be another juicy book club.

What to bring
