Fora Recommends: Southwark’s best restaurants

October 2019

London’s South Bank is packed with irresistible places to eat, whether you’re celebrating or meeting a client. We’ve picked the best places to dine in the Borough and Southwark area, whatever the occasion calls for.

Food lovers are spoilt for choice in the Borough/Southwark area, as there are restaurants for every palate, budget and mood. From your Fora workspace, you’ll be just a short stroll away from some of London’s most exciting eateries.   The Anchor & Hope Gastropub The Anchor & Hope offers a unique take on Great British classics just 5 minutes’ walk from Waterloo. Its menu changes daily but recent dishes have included seven-hour lamb shoulder, grilled Dover sole and nectarine ice cream. Bookings can only be made for the Sunday lunch sitting, so arrive by 5pm to bag a table for dinner. Tibits Plant-based diners will love dedicated veggie buffet Tibits. The Bankside restaurant’s health-focused menu includes Mac and Greens, veggie curries and raspberry ‘cheezecake’, and more than 40 unique dishes are offered each day. Tuesdays are Tibits’ dedicated vegan day, when you can fill up on food that’s kind to the planet and your taste buds. O’Ver Borough Enjoy hearty Italian cuisine at O’Ver Borough. Its Neapolitan dishes are made using traditional methods and unique ingredients (like Mediterranean Sea water) to make them as tasty and nutritious as possible. Go for Caprese di Bufala to start, followed by richly spiced Tuscan Sausage and wild Vesuvio broccoli pizza. The Breakfast Club Breakfast is served all day at The Breakfast Club. Just south of London Bridge, its extensive morning menu offers everything from Shakshuka Benedict to a vegan breakfast, as well as good old bacon, sausage and egg butties. If you fancy a pancake stack or classic full English for dinner, you’re in luck – The Breakfast Club serves a range of breakfast classics (and other tasty dishes) all day long. Oblix Find Oblix on the 32nd floor of The Shard, where you can enjoy a sophisticated range of up-market menus for every occasion. Visit for afternoon tea to mark a special day, or enjoy pasta, grills and sharing dishes from its daily A la Carte menu. A must-try is the Sunday Roast – opt for the crisp suckling pig or rib of beef and enjoy the unspoilt views across London Bridge and Bankside while you dine. The Colombian Also known as Distriandina, The Colombian is situated in the heart of Elephant & Castle’s Latin American community. Get stuck into Colombian dishes like Carne Asada and Tilapia Frita or try Pandebonos from its speciality bakery. The eatery is also known for its excellent music and stays open until 3am Friday to Sunday, meaning you can dance the night away on weekends to the vibrant Latin beats.   Our coworking spaces in both Borough and Southwark offer the perfect base for meeting your clients and then treating them to lunch. If you’re in the area, feel free to pop by and we’ll happily show you around.
