As we wave goodbye to Clerkenwell Design Week, we’re feeling inspired to see what other great creative events are happening in the capital this summer.
Although one of our favourite design events is over, London still has plenty more to offer. Here are the key dates any creative type should keep free: London Design Festival Over nine days in September, you’ll have the chance to see some truly unique exhibitions from celebrated creators, all across some of London’s most well-known venues. Price: priced per event, many of which are free When: 14th– 22ndSeptember Where: venues across London Art in Real Life: Addressing the Sustainability Challenge Join the conversation about design’s power to inspire change. Artist Olafur Eliasson will lead the session, joined by key people in social and political roles, including Malini Mehra, commissioner to the Mayor of London and UN adviser. Price: £12 When: 8thJuly, 7:30pm to 9:00pm Where: Tate Modern Designing Inclusion Be part of a discussion around how architecture and urban design can adapt to the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. Price: Free When: 24thJune, 5:30pm to 8:00pm Where: KPF, Covent Garden London Festival of Architecture The world’s biggest architecture festival invites you to innovative spaces, eye-opening workshops and political discussions exploring the built environment – all centred on this year’s theme, ‘Boundaries’. Price: priced per event, many of which are free When: 1st– 30thJune Where: venues across London Design Excellence: London Learn how to use your UX and UI capabilities to your advantage. You’ll hear from experts in this field who will show you the best ways to create an adaptable, expandable, saleable and beautiful user experience. Price: free When: 26thJune, 6:00pm – 9:00pm Where: Aviation House, Holborn Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Since 1769, the Summer Exhibition has showcased work from established and emerging artists. Anyone can present their work in this open submission event, making for a diverse collection. Price: priced per exhibition, many of which are free When: 10thJune – 12thAugust Where: Burlington House and Burlington Gardens, Piccadilly Circus Gingerline’s, The Grand Expedition Try something completely different with Gingerline’s immersive dining experience, this year taking you on a trip inspired by children’s books. You’ll be served a five-course meal while you enjoy a dance display, live animation and incredible set design. Price: £60 – £75 When: various dates in May, June and July Where: a secret location on the Victoria line.
